Clean Air Day competition
On Wednesday 5th July, 12 members of the Eco team, plus Mrs Hughes, Mrs Lacey and Mrs Thompstone, went to the Home cinema in Manchester to watch our Clean Air Day video that we had entered into a competition run by Transport for Greater Manchester. We had made a short film to promote the use of public transport to help to prevent air pollution ruining our health. To continue the Eco theme, we even travelled into town on the train and walked to all our destinations.
Our film was one of twelve to be picked for the final out of a total of eighty-five entries. At Home, we listened to the radio broadcasts and watched the video promotions from all the finalists before the results were announced. The standard of entries was very high but we were very proud to learn that we were runners-up and the prize was £100 of vouchers for school.
We had a lovely day! Charlie was picked to try out a virtual reality bike; there were delicious home-made cookies and juice and goody bags from the staff at Home; we visited Whitworth park for a picnic in the sunshine; and we enjoyed the play equipment too.
Not all our committee could join us as it was transition day for our year sixes, but in the pictures above are-
Caelan, James, Ethan, Marley, Jake, Gracie-May, Casey, Lucy, Adam, Charlie, Ruby and Sam.
